Black Fortress

The Black Fortress is the last of the Frostbite battlegrounds. Here, the Therians have a strong foothold - they control one installation that houses their planetary doomsday devices.

Control of the Black Fortress sector gives the Therians, initially, the ability to harness nanoviruses (which block companies from entering a specific unoccupied sector on a specific battleground). Another interesting thing about this sector is that no one can deploy as a defender, even if they control the sector - the threat of the nanovirus forces attackers and defender to deploy from access zones.

This battleground has quite an interesting setup. As you can see, the Therian HQ is right in the center of the map. Mobility for them wouldn't be a problem.

The Red Fields

The Red Fields is the next battleground in Frostbite. It's under heavy control of the collectivist space commies (the Red Blok) at the beginning of the campaign.

The Red Blok begin with sector control of the K-101 Spaceport and The Mine. According to the story fluff, the RB are mining the precious Kollossium ore, which is forged to construct the sturdy armor plating of their combat striders.

While the Red Blok control 2 sectors, they are a little more spread out, so it might be more of a challenge for them to hold the spaceport.

This would be a pretty interesting battleground to play on, because some of the battles take place in underground environments. Which entails natural phenomenon like earthquakes, and tight passages (meaning more close combat).

The Emerald Mounts

There are 3 battlegrounds that can be used in the Frostbite campaign. The more battlegrounds fought over, the more companies, and the more complexity in the campaign. Each of the battlegrounds offers a tactical advantage to one specific army, except the UNA (who can perform more aerial drop-offs than the other armies).

The Emerald Mounts has a strong Karman presence. With that battleground, the Karmans begin the campaign with control over the Tarmac Spaceport (which lets them perform a drop-off), and quick access to many of the sectors. The Karmans must deploy one of their companies in the Tarmac Spaceport, and the remainder enter play from their HQ.

I could see a lot of 3-army conflicts occuring at the spaceport, considering how central it is on the map. It looks like the Karmans could really set up a pretty defensible position in the sectors in the upper-left corner of the battleground.

Babylon Zero

The best Robot Crab (Therian) unit... hands down.

A Start

Because I'm an insufferable geek, I've decided to setup a blog that chronicles our AT-43 missions at Rob's house. Inspired some by Adam's Panzerfaust Nostalgia blog, it seemed like a good way to record battle reports, show some pics of missions, and help visually maintain an AT-43 campaign.

Sometime in June, we'll (hopefully) be starting up the Frostbite campaign. We've got all the terrain tiles we need - it's just a matter of getting familiar with the rules and settling on battlegrounds to play on. Oh, and writing up some army lists.

As the campaign progresses I'll doctor up images of the battlegrounds so that we know the current state of the campaign. Show where all the companies move to, and where battles will take place.

Should be fun! I'm looking forward to it.
